Spine X-ray examination

Using the X-ray method, all levels of the spine can be examined, including the cervical (neck) spine, thoracic spine, lumbar spine, sacrum, and coccyx. During the examination, various conditions can be detected such as: 

• benign and malignant bone formations of the spine
• scoliosis
• kyphosis
• dystrophic-degenerative changes in the spine (osteochondrosis and spondyloarthrosis). 
• spondylolisthesis
• the stability of intervertebral ligaments
   

Effective radiation dose. X-ray examination of the spine exposes the patient to a low level of radiation – approximately 0.7 mSv (millisieverts).

Duration. The examination takes approximately 5–10 minutes and no prior registration is required.

Delivery of X-ray results. You can receive the examination results and images both in print and in electronic format, in either Armenian or Russian.

Preparation. For lumbar and sacral spine examinations it is recommended to have empty bowels. No preparation is necessary for other types of spinal x-ray examination.

Indications for X-ray examination of the spine:

• Postural disorders in children
• Visible protruding vertebrae in the back
• Posture with a hunched back (kyphotic posture)
• Pain in the back and along the spine
   

Pricing

The cost of joint x-ray is 8,000 AMD per region, and 18,000 AMD for a full spinal X-ray examination in VitaMed Medical Center (Yerevan, Stepanavan, Charentsavan), depending on the joint and projections. The service is provided in accordance with international standards and is the most affordable option in Yerevan.
