Spermogram
Semen examination - spermogram in accordance with WHO standards
Semen analysis continues to be the primary test for assessing male reproductive function. In addition, this study may be useful in the diagnosis of a number of urological diseases.
How to properly prepare for the study?
You should refrain from ejaculation for 2 days, but not more than 7 days. When re-examining, it is preferable to set the same abstinence periods to reduce fluctuations in the results obtained.
Completely exclude:
- Alcohol and other toxins in 6-7 days, because they strongly affect spermatogenesis.
- Taking certain medications with the doctor's permission one day before the study. Drugs can affect the motility and viability of spermatozoa.
- Visiting the sauna and sauna during the week – excessive overheating greatly affects the quality of sperm.
- Physiotherapy and X-ray examination can be performed 3 days before the examination.
- After treatment of colds and other acute diseases, it is recommended to take an analysis after 7-10 days, especially if there was a high fever.
- On the eve of ejaculating, eliminate heavy physical exertion and stressful situations, as cortisol can affect the test results.
- Do not use a condom or lubricants (including saliva) to collect ejaculate.
- Before taking the test, perform hygiene procedures and empty your bladder.
- Collect the ejaculate completely.
Proper preparation for the analysis affects its reliability, so you should carefully consider the recommendations of doctors.
For a spermogram, a sperm test, you must make an appointment in advance.
Spermogram cost in Armenia is 15.000 AMD (at VitaMed MC branches in Yerevan, Stepanavan, Charentsavan).
