Knee joint X-ray examination

During the X-ray examination of the knee joint, we assess the condition of the bony structures and joint surfaces of the femur, tibia, and fibula; the width of the radiographic joint space; the shape and integrity of intra-articular elevations. The examination helps detect conditions such as benign and malignant bone tumor, deforming osteoarthritis, rheumatic joint disorders, calcifications in soft tissues adjacent to the joint, the position of prosthetics in prosthetic joints, and more.

Effective radiation dose. A knee joint X-ray examination exposes the patient to a low level of radiation – approximately 0.7 mSv (millisieverts).

Duration. The examination takes 5–10 minutes. There's no need for prior registration.

Delivery of X-ray results. The results and images of the examination can be provided in print or through e-mail, in Armenian or Russian.

Preparation. No special preparation is necessary. You only need to wear clothing that allows easy access to the relevant body area.

Indications for knee joint X-ray examination:

• Pain, swelling, bruising, or deformities in the hip or knee joint area
• Metabolic and rheumatic diseases
• Trauma in the joint area accompanied by pain, swelling, or deformity
• Follow-ups for fractures
• Preoperative and postoperative assessment

The cost of knee joint x-ray is 8000 AMD in VitaMed Medical Center (Yerevan, Stepanavan, Charentsavan). The examination is performed in accordance with international standards using a digital X-ray machine. This makes the examination the most affordable one you can find in Yerevan.
